Here we go on an adventure; I don’t know where it’ll lead But I sense in the future we will find It served our greatest need Because somewhere along the way The ideal became Individuality should trump community, And as fun as this once seemed It has left us in great need It’s more blessed to give than to receive And we all have something to give And we all have something to give away We’re all unique but that doesn’t mean We are all the same But we’ve thought for far too long Difference means we’re lame Problem’s not we think too large at all; Problem is we think too small Boredom’s being discontent With the gifts we have been sent Jealousy’s no accident When our hearts we’ve gone and spent It’s more blessed to give than to receive We mixed this up or so it seems (yeah) We have been deceived B(u)y the message we’ve received We find ourselves when we give ourselves away We give ourselves away (We don’t sell ourselves away) ©2008 David Loti

Sleep 03:51
Our anxiousness we lull to rest Our thoughts become our eyes Our guards wear down and we confess Our fears and doubts that we hide Things aren’t how they were meant to be When we sleep we know we’re weak This world is not as it should be When we sleep we dream We trust and idle disbelieve We submit and so we see We fly into another world We fall into eternity There’s more to this life than we see Fo(u)r (h)ours, fo(u)r we(ek)s we sleep There’s more to this life than we see Fo(u)r (h)ours, fo(u)r we(ek)s we dream We dream When we sleep we dream ©2008 David Loti

Today did not go quite as I had hoped I got knocked down again I was blindsided and reminded How we are all so frail Because we all get hurt some times We all break down some times We all fall down some times But we get back up again my friend Things did not turn out quite as I’d planned out When I started down this road What do I do now? I’ll get through somehow But right now I just don’t know I’m down but not out ©2007 David Loti

You don’t sleep well when we’re together I don’t sleep well when we’re apart I’ve been thinking about forever But you shot this idea down from the start I want to be with you, But you don’t want this too So what else can I do When it’s pointless to pursue? Let it go. I’m awake in the middle of the night Asking myself what I can do to make things right But you said I’ve done nothing wrong So I should look into moving on This is easier said than done. ©2007 David Loti

Here we go. My heart is racing at pi cubed Meters per nanosecond My temperature is rising to 3,011 Kelvin My salivary glands have stopped functioning But thanks to my eccrine sweat glands My palms are now drowning I am a nerd but I am in love When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing When we gaze in each other’s oculi I feel like I won the spelling bee first prize The Agapornis sings its loveliest melodies The Apis mellifera makes its sweetest honey Through my thick spectacles My assessment is you’re beautiful When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing It’s so special just to watch it happening When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing I love you more than Einstein, Shakespeare, or Pascal, Cryptozoology, rocket science, history, And even calculus, Chess, ping pong, Sudoku, And also RPG’s You mean much more to me Than a perfect score on my SAT My world ameliorates when we are together When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing It’s so special just to watch it happening When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing You can see the chemistry between When nerds fall in love it’s a beautiful thing ©2006 Stand Up Citizens (David Loti and Monica Filgo).

Volcano 03:03
If we’re going out with a bang I’d like to be holding a tomato When that lava flows Over the backyard fence Volcano If it’s the end of the world We can’t stop it My insurance won’t cover it I hope they don’t care now Cause the grass is on fire (This is the greatest moment of my life) I’ve got just enough time For one last spaghetti dinner Up on the roof The special is earth flambé today If we’re going out with a bang! ©2006 Stand Up Citizens (David Loti and Monica Filgo).

Good Year 03:26
A subtle expectancy Came for free This time we celebrated Another successful trip Of the earth around the sun And I cannot exactly define What I have in mind Which will make this year Desirable compared to the One we left behind She asked “How was New Year’s Eve?” And I turned and smiled responsively Cause this year started differently, I already could tell And I do not particularly Subscribe to these philosophies That each New Year’s Comes with a clean slate Cause life doesn’t always Work that way But I think it’s gonna be a good year This time I hope it’s gonna be a good year In my mind Nothing has changed that I know But I know things constantly go On behind the scenes Which I will never know Cause I’m too close to witness Each minute growth Nothing has changed that I know But I know things constantly go On behind the scenes Which I will never know And Hope that is certain Is certainly not Hope Hope. ©2006 David Loti

I’ll take My time; It’s My time anyway To use as I please. You live your life One day at a time Focused on the Prize. I tell you, “Do not worry; It won’t prolong your life.” I know every one of your needs; Let Me be your Supply. Life can be so confusing (That’s partly why it’s life.) I give you answers you need When it is the right time. Don’t tell Me what you will do, ‘cause I’m the One in charge. But My plans are Good for you; I’m looking for your trust. ©2004 David Loti

Dandelions 04:56
In a field of yellow flowers Underneath the sun Bluest eyes that spark with lightning Boy with shoes undone. He is young, so full of hope, Reveling in tiny dreams, Filling up his arms with flowers, Right for giving any queen. Running to her beaming bright While cradling his prize. A flickering of yellow light Within his mother’s eyes. She holds them to her heart Keeping them where they’ll be safe Clasped within her very marrow, Dandelions in a vase. She sees love where Anyone else would see weeds. All Hope is found. Here is everything he needs. Fathomless Your Endless Mercy, Weight I could not Lift. Where do I fit in this puzzle? What good are these Gifts? (I’m) not a Martyr or a Saint, Scarcely can I struggle through. All that I have ever wanted Was to give my best to You. Lord Search my heart. Create in me something Clean Dandelions— You see Flowers in these weeds. Gently Lifting hands to Heaven, Softened by the Sweetest Hush, A Father Sings over his Children, Loving them So Very Much. More than words could warrant, Deeper than the Darkest Blue, More than sacrifice could merit, Lord I give my heart to You. Arranged by Seth McGaha. Originally performed by Five Iron Frenzy. ©1998 5 Minute Walk Music (ASCAP). Used by permission.

You Are 04:08
If I wrote a Song as Beautiful as You It would be more Beautiful Than any Song we’ve heard before If I had the Words to say How Wonderful You Are Then You would not be You Songs fall short Words fall short I fall short of showing You How Beautiful How Wonderful Incomparable I know You are You Are. ©2007 David Loti

You don’t see what I see When I look at you I see a masterpiece You see things differently But nothing you do (or do not do) Will change the Way I See I know this life is hard Please receive this Gift from Me I’m so in Love with you You don’t see what I see When I look at you I see beauty You see things differently And what I Want to do Is change the way you see I’m sowing Love with you ©2008 David Loti

You are Always Good No matter how I feel. You are Always Good; This does not depend on me. You’re Always in Control Even if I cannot see You’re Always in Control; This does not depend on me. Love is Who You are. Love is What You do. Love is All I need. All I need is You. You are Always There When there’s pain and joy inside. You are Always There To bring my deaths Your Life. You are Always Love No matter how lost I am. You are Always Love: Offering out Your Guiding Hand. ©2005 David Loti

Your Word O Lord is Eternal; It Stands Firm in the Heavens. When I encounter Your Words May they find a place to Stay In the depths of my Soul— The nucleus of change Am I holding on to something Telling myself it is nothing? Encountering Truth Changes Everything. Am I Willing to be Changed? Am I holding on to nothing Thinking it is something? Encountering You Changes Everything. Am I Willing to be Changed? ©2004 David Loti.

There are many parts of this Body: Each one where God wanted it to be. This part’s an arm; that part’s a kidney; You might be a toe; she may be a spleen. The heart can’t go over to the eyeball And say, “You were made As I was supposed to be,” Because each part’s There to serve all the others: Many parts form one Body. But sometimes I feel like Maybe God fashioned me to be The appendix, or the earlobe, Or the small toe Or the nipples on a man, Or the hair on the knee. But even if that is the case I’m still part of this Body, And even if that is what God Created me to be That’s alright with me. If one part feels weaker than the others Then would you please give me your attention. These parts are as valuable as all the others This is God’s original intention. We’re in this together; If one part’s ill then so is the whole Body. We’re in this forever; If one part’s glad then so are We. Yeah! ©2004 David Loti
